Foodies and fans of Swiss culinary specialities were in for a treat this November 2017: the SWISS APÉRO rooftop bar opened for almost three weeks in Dusseldorf, winning over inhabitants from the Rhineland region with a special Swiss custom: the apero. Following the success of the SWISS APÉRO pop-up bars in Stuttgart in 2015 and Munich in 2016, it was Dusseldorf's turn to immerse themselves into the unique Swiss way of living.
Swiss apero culture gets approval from Dusseldorf
A selection of Swiss wines and delicious platters of Swiss appetisers were on offer for guests, including dried meats such as Bündnerfleisch, Appenzeller Mostbröckli and Vallais dried meat. The aperos were so popular in Dusseldorf that the bar was soon fully booked.
SWISS APÉRO continues to hold a special place in German households
Though the rooftop bar closed its doors to the public following a short 3-week stay, apero culture lives on in the Rhineland region with German distribution of Swiss apero products subsequently expanding. Those who want to continue the apero tradition at home can now find Bündnerfleisch, Mostbröckli or air-dried Bündner beef in the refrigerated sections of selected supermarkets.
